Coffee rating
1 person so far. One more and it gets a rating.

How the coffee rating works

It rates the beans, not each cup.

  • Your verdict counts in fullThe stars you give the coffee itself (on its page, or when you finish a bag).
  • Otherwise, your best cup counts halfIf you only brewed it, your best cup stands in, because a coffee is as good as the best cup you got out of it.
  • Sour or bitter brews don't countA brew you marked clearly sour or bitter is about the extraction, not the beans.
  • Café cups count as they areA barista made them.
  • New coffees start in the middleEvery coffee starts near the community average, so one 5★ can't top the charts, and it shows a rating from two people on.

About this coffee

Celebrated for its florality and ‘tea-like’ qualities, Gesha is one of the most sought after varieties within the specialty scene. This example, whilst not the most conventional, is no exception. A 2nd generation grower from Agustín, Don Angel has taken steps in recent years to learn more about specialty coffee, building on his already expansive experience as a coffee grower. In 2018, he achieved the enormous feat of selling his first micro-lot sale under his own name. His 3rd exported Gesha, we’re extremely fortunate and grateful to have this lot. After de-pulping, this coffee undergoes a 36-40 hour dry fermentation with pineapple slices. It’s then rinsed and dried before preparations are made for exporting. The result is a beautifully clean and delicate coffee that retains all the qualities of a Gesha that we love. Don’t expect anything ‘cofermenty’ with this one. We roast it light, and it’s best enjoyed as a lovely pour-over. Region/Country: Huila, Colombia
